Introduction

The dataset used for this project is the Worldwide Video Game Sales dataset from Kaggle. It contains information on 16,598 video games released across multiple gaming platforms from the early 1980s through the late 2010s. Each record includes details about the game’s title, platform, release year, genre, publisher, and sales in different regions of the world. Sales are reported in millions of units for North America, Europe, Japan, other regions, and worldwide. This dataset allows users to analyze trends in the video game industry, compare publisher and platform performance, and evaluate how different factors influence game sales.

I chose this dataset because I enjoy video games and wanted to analyze an industry I’m interested in. It also contains a large amount of real-world data that allows for meaningful statistical analysis, trend identification, and comparisons across different genres, publishers, and gaming platforms.
